About

I am a professional photographer, based in Sydney with over 25 years’ experience specialising in scientific, art and cultural collections photography – a field that has kept me endlessly fascinated.

For over 20 years, I was Senior Photographer at the Australian Museum. More recently I have worked with the University of Sydney digitising the collections of The Macleay Museum, The Nicholson Museum and University Art Gallery and Stanton Library, documenting their social history archives.

Over the course of my career, I have been privileged to work with a diverse range of clients including museums, art galleries, cultural and educational institutions, scientists, researchers, cultural leaders, independent artists and collection specialists. I have created imagery for the purposes of documentation, publication and publicity, covering everything from Egyptian mummies to pieces of Mars, whales to insects from sacred objects to skeletal material as well as priceless gemstones and the people who work with them.

I understand and appreciate that each assignment is unique and look forward to bringing my expertise and experience to your project:

  • Collection digitisation

  • Imaging of 2D and 3D objects

  • Analogue and digital photographic techniques

  • Macro, studio and location photography

  • Time-lapse / stop-motion imaging

  • Historical photographic techniques – Daguerreotypes, Cyanotype etc.

  • Black & white darkroom techniques

  • Portraiture – editorial, character, corporate

  • Specialised lighting techniques – strobe, infra-red, ultra violet, dark/light field etc.

  • Handling, photographing and scanning glass plate negatives, historical prints, rare and priceless objects, delicate specimens and culturally sensitive artefacts in accordance with best conservation standards and collection management practices

I look forward to speaking with you and discussing your photographic requirements.
